Some of my passion projects

The Design Void in Life Support: HEMODialysis and HCI

As the number of dialysis recipients rises, particularly those needing home dialysis, there is an urgent need to explore technologies to aid in administering this life support. Understanding patients’ needs and designing intuitive interfaces for dialysis machines by utilizing available technologies, such as augmented reality and contextual AI, can significantly improve patient experiences, alleviate caregiver burdens, and enhance treatment outcomes.

Navigating Memory: Empowering WWII Oral Histories

I employed a combination of photo-elicitation and trauma-informed interviewing techniques to interview my 99-year-old grandfather about his life and service on the USS Intrepid during WWII. By integrating his personal experiences with archival records, I aim to construct a vivid firsthand narrative not only of the Pacific theater but life before the war.

The SymBolic ERasure of RAPA NUIANS: Content AnalYsis Media PortrayALs of Easter Island

Documentaries on Easter Island often sensationalize the creators of the Mo’ai statues while sidelining their descendants. This erasure overlooks their uninterrupted occupation of the island. By perpetuating narratives of civilization collapse and ecocide, such documentaries can be said to contribute to intellectual genocide by eroding the cultural identity and agency of Rapa Nuians.
